KIDSCARE ENROLLMENT
Governor Jan Brewer will announce the re-opening of enrollment in KidsCare, giving 21,700 Arizona children access to health care coverage. According to state officials, this is being done with no state cost thanks to involvement from the federal government, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health System and the University of Arizona Health Network. 10am, Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
SEX CRIMES SENTENCING
Wylie McCarty, linked by DNA to three old sex crimes in Phoenix, is scheduled to be sentenced. He entered a guilty plea on charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, and child molestation. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
US-60 FATAL ARRAIGNMENT
Mark William Clary Jr. is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and failure to stay at the scene of a fatal accident. He is accused of causing a fatal rear-end collision on US-60.
PROTECTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS
Gilbert resident Leah Pettyjohn is working to update state laws to protect domestic violence victims. She wants to prevent domestic violence convicts from getting released early in a program meant for nonviolence offenders. She will speak about this effort at a town council study session. 4pm, Gilbert Town Hall.
