Many school districts’ students go back to school on Monday, including Agua Fria Union High School District, Avondale Elementary School District, Casa Grande Elementary School District, Casa Grande Union High School District, Coolidge Unified School Creighton School District, Dysart Unified School District, Fountain Hills Unified School District, Higley Unified School District, Humboldt Unified School District, Kyrene Elementary School District, Laveen Elementary School District, Litchfield Elementary School District, Littleton Elementary School District, Madison School District, Maricopa Unified School District, Pendergast Elementary School District, Phoenix Union High School District, Sacaton School, Saddle Mountain Unified District, Scottsdale Unified School District, Stanfield Elementary School District, Tempe Elementary School District, Tempe Union High School District, Tolleson Elementary School District, Tolleson Union High School District, and Wilson School District. A number of other districts start later in the week.
SCHOOL SPEED ENFORCEMENT
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols Monday, the first day of classes for area schools, in an effort to keep children safe, enforcing a “zero tolerance” policy during this period.
PEARCE RECALL ORAL ARGUMENTS
Oral arguments will be heard in the court challenge over the Russell Pearce recall. 10am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
PARK MURDER ARRAIGNMENT
Alferikh Nadeem and Brandon Roberts, 17-year-olds charged in the murder of 78-year-old Milton raffle in a North Phoenix park, will be arraigned. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
SEX STING ARRAIGNMENT
Jason Dubin, accused to trying to arrange sexual encounters with two underage girls in an Internet chat room, will be arraigned on two counts of luring a minor for sexual exploitation. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
STOLEN AMBULANCE ARRAIGNMENT
Travis Ward, accused of stealing an ambulance and crashing it into parked cars, will be arraigned on two counts of theft. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
CHILD LEFT IN CAR ARRAIGNMENT
Sandra Holguin, accused of leaving her two-year-old daughter in a hot car while she went shopping, will be arraigned on a child abuse charge. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
