PHOENIX - On the first day of legislation for our new Congress in Washington Thursday, Representative Gabrielle Giffords talked to ABC15 about everything the U.S. House had on its plate.

Giffords is now in critical condition and in surgery after being shot in the head at a grocery store Saturday morning in Tucson.

In the interview on ABC15 Daybreak, Democrat Giffords said it was going to be a challenge going from the majority to minority.

"Obviously it's much more fun to be in the majority than in the minority but bipartisanship is critical if you're in the top slot or if you're the, you know, in the minority, so it's going to be an interesting session," Giffords said.

Giffords went on to call the last session the most productive Congress in decades.

"Yes it's true that change is difficult, but when it comes to making sure that we have an economy that we push forward legislation that would make sure that all Americans have access to affordable quality health care, that we were able to add $600 million to additional border security funding just a couple of months ago, you know, these are important measures that will improve the national security for American people and also our prosperity as well," she said.
