PHOENIX - Both were once considered vulnerable but recently have found stronger footing in their Republican primary races.
Now, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Gov. Jan Brewer will campaign together at six events in five communities on Friday and Saturday.
The pair will skip the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas and instead hit the smaller towns of Sierra Vista, Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Pinetop-Lakeside and Payson.
Brewer's two top rivals for the Republican nomination have dropped out since her popularity skyrocketed following her signing of an immigration enforcement bill.
Polls show McCain leading GOP challenger J.D. Hayworth before the Aug. 24 primary.
