A man dubbed the "Bucket List Bandit" is wanted for robbing banks in four states and handing tellers notes indicating he only has months to live, authorities said.

A man who robbed a bank in Roy last week used the same operating procedure at three other banks in Idaho, Colorado and Arizona last month, Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham told the Standard-Examiner of Ogden last week.

Whinham said a man walked into a Wells Fargo branch July 6 and had a note ordering the teller not to mess with him and to hand over a specific amount of money. The note also said he had just four months to live.

Whinham said the man was wearing identical clothing in all four robberies.

The man's claim that he's dying hasn't been confirmed by police.

The same man is also suspected of robbing the Ireland Bank in Pocatello just a few hours before the Wells Fargo Bank in Roy, although Pocatello Police Lt. Paul Manning said that note did not mention the man was dying.

Police could not say why the man chose the bank on one of Pocatello's busiest streets.

The same man is suspected of robbing banks in Arvada, Colo., on June 21 and Flagstaff, Ariz., on June 26, based on security camera photos of the heists, Whinham said.

Roy police are sharing information with multiple law enforcement agencies to identify and catch the bandit.
