PHOENIX - State officials continue to argue about whether Arizona should continue to fund transplants for some patients on the state's Medicaid program.
The transplants were cut as part of budget reductions last year. It's estimated that it would require roughly $5 million to restore the funding.
Governor Jan Brewer said the state doesn't have the money. However, several lawmakers disagree.
Last year, the federal government gave Arizona more than $1 billion in stimulus funds. That includes $185 million, which Brewer can spend in any ways she wants.
Two weeks ago, ABC15 filed a public records request for a breakdown of how and where Governor Brewer spent the money.
Our exact request was for, "Any records, documents, expenditures, etc. that show how the Governor’s Office spent $185 million in federal stimulus discretionary funds...This request includes copies of every document related to the matter, regardless of the format in which the information is stored."
Below is what we received.
Watch the attached video and leave us a comment to let us know what think.
