RAIN FORECAST
After showers Thursday night, there will be a slight chance of rain early Friday morning.

GODDESS TEMPLE SENTENCING
Wayne Clayton, who pleaded guilty to facilitation to commit illegal control of an enterprise in connection with the "Goddess Temple" case, is scheduled to be sentenced. 10 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.

COLD CASE MURDER
The family of 2008 murder victim Irving Shuman will hold a news conference to renew awareness of the unsolved homicide. 3 p.m., 7th Avenue & Camelback, Phoenix.

LIGHT RAIL EXPANSION
Federal officials, including U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, will be in the Valley to announce funding for light rail system growth. 1 p.m., Mesa Arts Center.

SUNS PRESEASON HOME OPENER
The Phoenix Suns play Portland in their preseason home opening game. 7pm, US Airways Center, Phoenix.

ARIZONA STATE FAIR
The Arizona State Fair starts Friday and runs through November 4. Arizona State Fairgrounds, Phoenix.

US AIRWAYS JET PULL
US Airways CEO Doug Parker, City of Phoenix Aviation Department officials, and hundreds of employees will take part in a jet pull to benefit Valley of the Sun United Way. The goal of each team is to get the best time pulling an Airbus A319 15 feet. 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., US Airways Hangar, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
