A state appellate court is blocking a trial judge's order that a Republican legislative nominee's name be removed from the general election ballot.

A Court of Appeals panel's order Tuesday blocked a judge's ruling that Darin Mitchell doesn't live in the southwestern Arizona district where he's running for one of two House seats.

Maricopa County Elections Director Karen Osborne says the latest order means that Mitchell's name will appear on the ballot.

The case started with a challenge filed by Rep. Russ Jones of Yuma. His lawyer filed an appeal asking the Supreme Court to let the trial judge's ruling take effect, but the high court refused late Tuesday to hear that appeal.

Jones lost in the Republican primary to Mitchell and state Rep. Steve Montenegro of Litchfield Park. No Democrat is running in District 13.
