PHOENIX - A bill to allow more Arizona employers to drop health plan coverage for contraceptives for birth control is on the move again in the Legislature.

The bill is scheduled for review Monday by the Senate Rules Committee. Approval by that committee would allow the bill to be considered by full the Senate.

Senate President Steve Pierce pulled the bill from the committee's agenda last Monday because of controversy surrounding the bill.

Supporters say they plan to change the bill to provide reassurances that a woman wouldn't have to explain to her employers why she wants contraception for a purpose other than birth control.

Arizona law now allows religious entities to refuse to cover contraceptives. The bill would let any employer with religious or moral objections to contraception to opt out.
