PHOENIX - Arizona's minimum wage will go up 15 cents an hour for 2013 under an inflation adjustment.

The state Industrial Commission of Arizona decided this week that the state's minimum wage would increase to $7.80 per hour, up from $7.65.

That's an extra $1.20 for an eight-hour shift.

Arizona voters approved the Raise the Minimum Wage for Working Arizonans Act in 2006. The initiative set a minimum wage and provided for an annual increase tied to the cost of living. The increase is based on Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, or CPI-U.

The commission says the index went up 1.7 percent between August 2011 and August 2012.
