PHOENIX - Nine Arizona cities have made Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report this week.
The report ranks America's 200 largest cities in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers according to Allstate data.
Phoenix drivers top the list of best big city drivers, ranking number 1 among cities with 1 million residents or more.
That news left some Phoenix driver's with a surprised look.
"What?" laughed Ray Reed who had to think about the results,."I guess all in all it does seem a little bit safer. It was even more safe with the cameras."
Tempe drivers are the "most improved" from 2009 according to the annual report.
Tempe residents will experience a car collision on average every 10.4 years, making them 4.2 percent less likely when compared with the national average.
Chandler is reportedly home to the safest drivers in Arizona, ranking number 16 in the country. Drivers in Chandler are apparently 11.9 percent less likely to be in a collision than the average American driver.
"It does make me feel safe and I think we owe a lot of it to our law enforcement officers." said Laurie Mount, a Chandler resident and driver.
Kari Mather with Allstate Insurance Company suggests the best ways to improve driving reports starts with the driver: "Minimize the distractions. Don't text or talk on the phone and keep a safe driving distance between you and the car in front of you."
Allstate suggests one car length distance for every 10 miles per hour.
