SUN CITY, Ariz. - Three candidates have been nominated to take the place of Sen. Scott Bundgaard who resigned 10 days ago amid an ethics hearing in the Arizona Legislature.

The Maricopa Board of Supervisors will decide whether Eric Spencer, State Rep. Judy Burges or Lyle Tuttle will fill the seat for state senator in Legislative District 4.

The special election was held Monday night in Sun City and the Board of Supervisors is expected to make its choice some time this week.

If Burges is chosen by the board, another replacement meeting would have to be held to fill her current spot.

Bundgaard resigned on Jan. 6, shortly before he would have testified to the Senate Ethics Committee on whether he should be disciplined for a February domestic incident involving a former girlfriend.

It ended an ethics case that could have resulted in a recommendation that the full Senate issue a letter of reprimand, formally censure Bundgaard or expel him.
