PHOENIX - Arizona's three competitive congressional races remain too close to call as ballot counting continued in a process that could take days.

The most surprising race was in Tucson's 2nd District. That's where Republican political novice Martha McSally was holding a slight lead against Democratic Rep. Ron Barber on Wednesday.

Barber won Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' old seat by a 7 point margin in a June special election and was favored to win Tuesday. But McSally surged to her slight lead late on election night.

Former Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick had a slight lead over Republican Jonathan Paton in the 1st District and Democrat Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Vernon Parker were in a virtual dead heat for the 9th District seat.

Six other House seats in the state split 4-2 for Republicans.
