Wikipedia, Reddit to perform blackout against SOPA

Several popular websites will have a blackout Wednesday in protest of an anti-piracy bill circulating through Congress.
Wikipedia and Reddit , the self-proclaimed "front page of the internet," are the big-name sites protesting the Stop Online Piracy Act, according to CNN . Others include Boing Boing and Cheezburger.
The Stop Online Piracy Act is designed to help the government and the entertainment industry fight internet piracy. It would allow them to create a blacklist that would then be used to block advertising services and payment services from those sites.
Some say it essentially allows the government to shut down sites that they claim violate SOPA. It would also force search engines to stop linking to those sites, essentially killing all traffic to the target websites.
Opponents claim SOPA violates first amendment rights and would cripple the internet.
