Survey: Your Instagram photos annoy Facebook friends

You might be impressed with your Instagram photos on Facebook, but a new survey indicates those filtered photos may annoy your friends more than any other posting.

A poll of 1,671 Facebook users found that doctored photos were the worst annoyance on Facebook.

Three quarters reported taking some kind of action to prevent the photos from appearing on their Facebook pages. Nearly one-fifth (21 percent) said they had deleted their friends because of pictures enhanced by photo apps, while 61 percent said that they had hidden someone's posts because of doctored photos, reported The Daily Mail .

The findings come from the from photo book website MyMemory.com .

Instagram enables users to add retro-style effects to digital photos, but a quarter of respondents said they found the effects too gimmicky.

Finishing second in the most disliked items on Facebook survey were baby photos (58 percent), reported the website ShinyShiny .

There are a number of photo-editing and photo-filter suites people use to modify their digital photos on their smartphones. Instagram also allows its users to share images through its own sharing website.

There are also many celebrities who have posted photos filtered by such devices, including Jamie Oliver and Jessica Alba. And Patrick Schwarzenegger used the Instagram app on photos he shared from a skiing accident, according to The Daily Mail.

A MyMemory.com executive said she was surprised that a photo app would be rated the biggest annoyance on Facebook.

"From the results, it seems that people either simply think that the photo effects the filters give are unnecessary; or the apps are just seen as 'gimmicky,' Rebecca Huggler, co-founder of MyMemory.com, told The Daily Mail.
