A new image of Mars circling the internet Monday is being called the next best thing to being there, according to NASA.
The panoramic camera (Pancam) on NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity reportedly captures a full-circle scene combining 817 images.
The rover's solar arrays and deck can be seen in the foreground, along with ruddy terrain, according to NASA.
The 817 images that make up the photo were taken between December 2011 and May 2012. Read more.
