TOLLESON, AZ - A body that was recovered from a canal in October has yet to be identified, according to the Tolleson Police Department.
Sergeant R. J. Mendoza says that the body was found on October 16 near the southeast corner of 91st Avenue and McDowell Road.
The body appeared to have been in the water for one week or less, according to an information flyer.
Tolleson police had received multiple leads, but none that helped identify the person found in the canal.
Police also say that since no new leads have come in to the department regarding the case, all leads have been exhausted and they are now looking for more help.
Tolleson police believe that the person may have looked similar to that of a sketch that was drawn.
The body is described as that of a heavy-set white or Hispanic male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall. He had a tattoo of a heart and flame on his right arm.
A Maricopa County medical examiner determined that the man had also undergone open-heart surgery for coronary heart disease.
If anyone has any information regarding the man found in the canal, contact Detective Yost with Tolleson police at 623-936-7186.
