Tolleson police arrest 2 suspects in battery theft case

TOLLESON, AZ - Tolleson police officers believe they may have caught three suspects involved in a series of battery thefts in the West Valley after responding to an incident Thursday morning.

According to the Tolleson Police Department, their officers were dispatched to a business at 100 S. 76th Avenue in Tolleson around 4:10 a.m.

An alarm had gone off at the business where they found signs of a possible break-in and a vehicle loaded with batteries from other vehicles.

Officers found three male suspects attempting to remove batteries from commercial equipment in another business yard, police said.

The suspects are identified as Tonopah residents Derek Odle, 19, and Zachary Adams, 23, and a 17-year-old from Buckeye.

The suspects told police that the batteries were taken from another business in Phoenix before they were found in Tolleson. Police also discovered that the suspects were allegedly responsible for a previous battery burglary in Peoria.

Odle and Adams were booked into jail and the juvenile was released to his parents, according to police.

Police are currently in the process of determining whether the suspects are also responsible for other battery thefts or similar cases.
