SURPRISE, AZ - Diane Talley always works hard to make ends meet for her and her daughter Kiani.
No matter how tight the budget it, she’s determined to provide especially when it comes to her daughter’s upcoming birthday.
“I had planned something big for her. You only turn 16 once. I was going to take her to the fair with her friends and have them all come back home and have pizza,” said Talley.
Talley’s plans came to a halt when she received a letter from work stating her job would be put on hold due to the government shutdown.
“It says 'we very much regret the shutdown and recognize the difficult financial impact the furlough is going to have on you,'” said Talley.
Talley has worked at Luke Air Force base for the past ten years, and feels her dedication is a complete loss.
Her focus now is to get the essentials for her family, and is crushed her daughter’s birthday will have to wait.
"I'm very angry. At this point I don't know who to be angry with. The Democrats? The Republicans? President Obama? I'm just angry."
