SURPRISE, AZ - A West Valley high school teacher placed fourth in archery at the Paralympics in London on Monday.

According to a news release from the Dysart Unified School District, Eric Bennett, an engineering teacher at Shadow Ridge High School in Surprise, participated in the Men's Recurve Division, taking a semi-final loss to the #1 ranked archer in the world.

Bennett said his final shot with his recurve bow was a "10" but it wasn't enough.

School officials say Bennett posted on Facebook, "If you have to lose, that's the way to go out. I couldn't find my groove today but tried my best."
