SURPRISE, Ariz. - Authorities have identified a pilot who was killed when his small plane crashed in the west Valley.
Surprise police spokesman Sgt. Bert Anzini said Sunday 53-year-old Terence Donohoe was piloting the plane that crashed Saturday afternoon.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the pilot of the experimental Vans RV-7A radioed air traffic controllers at Luke Air Force Base around 1 p.m. that he had no control of his aircraft and was going down.
"It was just like a whistling sound," said Lawanda Pena, who lives near the crash site.
Anzini said Donohoe lived in Glendale and was the registered owner of the aircraft.
Anzini said a team from the National Transportation Safety Board was at the scene Sunday morning.
