SUN CITY, AZ - Rep. Trent Franks says he may run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Jon Kyl.
The Daily News-Sun reports that Franks told a meeting of a Republican club in Sun City West on Saturday that he would seek the seat if it is what God and his constituents want.
Franks spokesman Ben Carnes told The Associated Press on Monday that the five-term Republican congressman is strongly considering a run but has not made a definitive decision.
Franks represents Arizona's 2nd District. It runs from the west Phoenix suburbs north and west to the Colorado River and includes Mohave County.
The only other announced candidate so far is Rep. Jeff Flake. The six-term Republican represents the 6th District, which includes Mesa and Chandler.
