SUN CITY WEST, AZ - Authorities say an elderly couple is expected to fully recover after their golf cart was rear-ended by a minivan in Sun City West on Saturday.
A husband and wife in their 70s were riding a golf cart on R.H. Johnson Boulevard when the wife, who was driving, stopped all of a sudden for an unknown reason, said a spokesperson with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
When they stopped, the minivan struck them from behind and the cart was knocked on its side, MCSO said.
It was initially believed the couple was seriously injured, but MCSO spokesman Jeff Sprong said their injuries have been downgraded and they are expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the minivan was not hurt but was cited for rear-ending the golf cart, MCSO said.
