SUN CITY, AZ - Authorities have confirmed they have arrested an 85-year-old man for allegedly shooting his wife in Sun City on Friday night.
George Sanders was questioned by authorities and later booked into the 4th Avenue Jail after his 81-year-old wife Virginia Sanders was found shot in the head in their home. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, George Sanders is currently being charged with attempted homicide.
The shooting occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Friday near Bell Road and Del Webb Boulevard, according to MCSO.
Neighbors told ABC15 Virginia suffered from multiple sclerosis.
"They were always together. He would push her around in a wheelchair and sing to her and play his guitar," said Jarvis van Klompenberg, who lives in the couple's West Valley neighborhood.
"He's not a cold-blooded killer," said Judy van Klompenberg.
An MCSO spokesperson said Virginia Sanders was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
