PEORIA, AZ - A Peoria couple is in the hospital after being brutally attacked inside their home.

Peoria Fire Department spokesman Tom Pendley said family members called 911 when they came home Friday morning and found 50-year-old Freddie and Lorena Castro severely injured.

Police told ABC15 their injuries were so bad, they couldn't even tell what type of weapon was used.

It's not exactly what neighbors are use to seeing.

"Everything is really quiet. There are never any problems here," said neighbor Isabel Maldonado.

But waking up to flashing red lights and yellow crime tape worried neighbors.

"There were all kinds of cops and trucks. I sent my husband over there to see what happened, but they wouldn't tell him anything," said neighbor Debbie Clevenger.

One neighbor said she's seen problems at the home before.

"You'd hear young adults fights, strange cars going in and out," said Jessica Palmer.

Despite fights reported by neighbors, police said they've never been called out to this home before. Detectives are questioning the couples' son, Victor Castro.

Authorities said the victims remain in the hospital in serious condition.
