Police search for suspects after batteries stolen from Peoria school buses

PEORIA, AZ - Police are looking for the public's help after school buses were vandalized at a district service center in Peoria.

According to Peoria police, officials from the Peoria Unified School District discovered the theft of about two dozen batteries from the buses on June 21.

Police said suspects entered the school district's Support Service Center on N. 95th Avenue by cutting a chain link fence.

The suspects drove a vehicle into the yard and removed the batteries from the buses, causing damage to the vehicles as well.

The PUSD and its insurance company are working with Silent Witness to offer a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in the crime at the Support Service Center, as well as recent thefts, damages and burglaries at a number of school sites over the past few weeks.
