PEORIA, AZ - Authorities in Peoria are investigating the discovery of possible human remains found near Highway 74.
City residents called Peoria police about 1 p.m. Wednesday to report they saw a body on desert land close to the highway.
Police spokeswoman Amanda Jacinto says the remains belong to an adult female. Peoria police believe the remains have been in the area for "a couple of years."
Jacinto said officals will be working in the coming days and weeks with forensic experts to try to identify the body.
Officials said, at this time, there is no sign of foul play.
