PEORIA, AZ - A Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy was shot in Peoria early Tuesday morning.
Peoria police said the deputy was making a traffic stop near 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road when he was shot. The shooting suspect then drove off in a silver truck into the desert.
Police went into the desert and spotted the truck and the suspect and exchanged gunfire.
Officers have been trying to communicate with the suspect who has not responded. They are not sure if he’s been hit, or if he ran off.
