A world record is underway at the Sky Zone in Peoria that will get your heart rate going.
“I feel like I don’t have an arm anymore, I’m about to fall asleep," says participant Cecilia Madrid.
More than 24 hours of playing dodge ball will do that to you. Madrid and more than 150 others have taken turns playing dodge ball at Sky Zone in an attempt to set a new world for playing dodge ball on a trampoline for a staggering 36 hours straight.
“We decided to set the bar high,” said John Theriault, assistant general manager for Sky Zone Peoria. “So by 8:30 p.m. tonight, we’re gonna get that done."
But it’s more than a record. A $10 donation to take part in the marathon will go toward the 100 Club, an organization that provides financial help to the families of police officers and firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty.
“In light of the tragedy that happened in Prescott awhile back, they need all the help they can get and we’re just trying to do our part,” said Theriault.
It serves as motivation for the participants, but it’s pretty obvious what they’ll do once the record is broken.
“I’m gonna go to sleep, that’s the first thing I’m gonna do,” said Madrid. “Or maybe take a shower first…and then go to sleep.”
