WADDELL, AZ - Waddell parents are keeping a very close watch over their children after sheriff's deputies say a man tried to kidnap an 8-year-old boy as he walked to school.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Department spokesman Joaquin Enriquez, the kidnapping attempt happened Tuesday morning near Peoria Avenue and Citrus Road.
Enriquez said the boy was on his way to Mountain View Elementary when he was grabbed off the sidewalk by a man driving an SUV.
Authorities said the kidnapper tried to throw the little boy into his car, but the boy's 10-year-old brother and friend fought the kidnapper off throwing rocks and shouting at the man until he let the boy go.
Police said the kids were scared, but unharmed.
Authorities are still looking for the kidnapper. They describe him as a black man in his 30's with facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue-green shirt.
If you have any information regarding this case, please call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department.
