LAVEEN, AZ - Firefighters have recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned in the Salt River Friday.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Sgt. Jesse Spurgin said deputies were called to the area near 75th and Southern avenues around 2:10 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning.
Air15 video showed firefighters searching in the water for the victim.
Spurgin said the body of the adult male was found around 3:20 p.m. Phoenix fire officials say the man was 40 years old.
Authorities said the man was swimming with two friends in a mining facility's industrial pool at that location when he cramped up, went under water and his friends tried to save him.
