GOODYEAR, AZ - Police are looking for a man in his 50s who attempted to abduct a student as she was walking to school in Goodyear, Ariz.
A 12-year-old girl said a man grabbed her arm while on her way to Westar Elementary School near 178th Avenue and Westar Dr. in Goodyear after she refused his offer for a ride, said Lisa Kutis, spokeswoman for Goodyear Police Department.
The girl got away and told school officials who then contacted police, according to Kutis.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early 50s with blond or gray hair, a mustache and goatee. His vehicle is described as an older model box style 1980s or 1990s white van.
Westar Elementary School was on lockdown for a majority of the morning. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 11 a.m.
Police are currently patrolling the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.
