GOODYEAR, AZ - Two people are dead after being stabbed Saturday afternoon in Goodyear.
The stabbing occurred at about 12:30 p.m. at a home near 144th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Goodyear Police say 64-year-old Eugene Maraventano is in custody for allegedly stabbing his wife and son to death.
Eugene Maraventano's wife 63-year-old Janet Maraventano and 27-year-old son Bryan Maraventano both died from their stab wounds.
Eugene Maraventano is still in the hospital recovering from his own stab wounds.
Neighbors said learning about the violence in their community was disturbing.
"For that to happen here, it's just brutal." neighbor Brian Anderson said.
"They were really nice people. Just really nice people. Friendly, wave to you, talk to you nice people," a close neighbor named Lisa said. "I feel sorry. Just sad."
