GLENDALE, AZ - Thousands of Valley students will walk to school with parents, city officials, public safety officers Wednesday night to promote pedestrian safety, clean air, and exercise.
The city of Glendale, Peoria Unified School District, and the city of Phoenix are encouraging students and parents to participate.
In Glendale, students will meet at Sahuaro Ranch Elementary School from 7:30am to 8:30am. All Glendale schools and Peoria Unified students are encouraged to participate.
Participants will walk a short distance to the entrance.
In Phoenix, students are scheduled to meet at the corner of 7th Avenue and Behrend Drive at 7:30 a.m. The walk begins at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church and ends at Desert Winds Elementary School.
Phoenix is promoting "Walk to School" events through the month of October.
