GLENDALE, AZ - Two firefighters are slightly injured after an apartment fire in Glendale.

City fire officials say crews were battling flames inside the apartment about 1 p.m. Friday when a chunk of ceiling fell down on two of the men.

Authorities say the firefighters' injuries were minor and they've been taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Arizona Republic says firefighters found two pit bulls and another dog trapped in the back bedroom of the apartment.

Crews were able to break the back window to rescue the dogs, However, one dog died from smoke inhalation.

Four adults and four children in the apartment were able to evacuate the building and escaped injury.

Investigators believe the fire was started by one of the children playing with a lighter.
