GLENDALE, AZ - Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is making medical communication with patients a little less painless.

TextConnect, which is already being used by the emergency room at the medical center, has been approved by the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association.

According to a news release, TextConnect is a new  text messaging system that helps medical centers provide medical follow-ups and directions for patients.

The system will allow patients to get more instantaneous advice from medical personnel and to provide more efficient communication.

When patients leave the hospital, they can continue to be connected to medical providers until they reach their own personal doctors.

Medical centers using TextConnect hope that the system will help patients stay in better contact, get better care and maintain quality in the care that they receive.
