Fire officials say a young girl who was found not breathing in a swimming pool Friday afternoon in Glendale has died.

According to Glendale police, the girl was in the care of her grandparents when they took their eyes off her for a short time while she was playing in her backyard.

They found her in the pool near 75th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. When she wasn't breathing, they immediately called 911, police said.

Air15 captured scenes of a rescue helicopter that landed in the street to transport the victim to the hospital.

The child was airlifted to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center around 3:45 p.m.

Glendale fire officials said she died later Friday night.
