GLENDALE, AZ - A police officer was injured Tuesday during a foot chase that took place in Glendale near the Westgate shopping center.

Police said a man and a juvenile fled from the scene after Glendale Police responded to a shoplifting call at a retail store near 93rd Avenue and Glendale.

A witness followed the two men and told the officers where they were.

According to police, the suspects refused to follow commands from the officers.

The officers chased the men on foot and one officer suffered a minor injury while trying to detain the suspects until other officers arrived.

The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.

The injured officer was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
