GLENDALE, AZ - The City of Glendale celebrated its 100th birthday Friday night.
The event, "Centennial Nite Lights," took place in Murphy park, and wraps up Saturday.
The highlight was the unveiling of the Glendale Centennial postmark from the US Postal Service. The postmark symbolizes the downtown area and features the centennial years 1910-2010.
"The postmark will go all the way across the county, it could go around the world to be evidence of this day and the celebration," said Billy Garrett, Glendale postmaster.
The postmark, along with a collectable envelope, will be available for purchase at the Glendale Downtown Post office for 30 days after the event.
The festivities also included a vintage fashion show, live entertainment and a classic car show.
Saturday's events gave residents an opportunity to volunteer and give back to the community.
