GLENDALE, AZ - The Glendale Police Department has announced new findings involving an August 17 shooting near the University of Phoenix Stadium.
According to police, just before officers received the report of the shooting in a parking lot near Hampton Inn, employees working in the lots learned of a man creating disturbances in the lot.
Those reports identified the man, who was being aggressive toward motorists leaving the lot, as an adult wearing silver face paint.
The report of the shooting that occurred just after the initial disturbance reports also involved a male wearing silver face paint.
Michael Horan, 57, a former out-of-state police officer, may have discharged his handgun in a possible act of self defense during a confrontation with 29-year-old Chris Knight, who was shot in the face during the altercation.
Glendale police say that Horan and his wife had left the game early and appeared to have been at their vehicle when the incident with Knight occurred.
Knight also attended the game, but police do not believe the shooting occurred as a result of the men being fans of opposing teams.
Interviews and evidence showed no signs that Horan was impaired during the incident, but Knight may have been impaired.
The reports will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for review as standard procedure and charges will later be determined.
