GLENDALE, AZ - Arizona Organix, the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary, is scheduled to open its doors at 10 a.m. today.

“The waiting room will be the most crowded,” said Director Ryan Wells, “because we’re only going to allow two people (in the sales room).”

The dispensary is expecting up to 200 patients to visit during its first eight hours of operation.

Fifteen security cameras will be recording every move and only two patients at a time will be allowed into the sales office to examine the marijuana and make their purchase.

Anyone wanting to buy medicinal marijuana will need to bring their driver’s license and their medical marijuana card.

Also, bring cash since the dispensary said banks will not work with them; no credit cards or checks are accepted.

Arizona allows use of medical marijuana for such conditions as cancer, chronic pain and muscle spasms.

More than 30,000 people already have cards authorizing them to possess and use medical marijuana.

Most of those people also had authorizations to grow marijuana, but those authorizations get phased out once a dispensary is licensed in their area and once their card with current growing authorization comes up for annual renewal.

The three directors of Arizona Organix spent more than $350,000 investing in the dispensary, Wells said.
