EL MIRAGE, AZ - A 12-year-old El Mirage girl has been found in Mexico after she failed to return home last week.
El Mirage police spokesman Steven Campbell said Samantha Zuniga was brought back home to El Mirage Thursday .
Campbell said with the help of the U.S. Marshals and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, authorities were able to locate Zuniga in Mexico.
Campbell said that he believes Zuniga may have been helped by a 28-year-old man who is still believed to be in Mexico.
Police say they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
According to Campbell, "it is imperative we keep in mind the age of the child and the concern for her well being," during their investigation.
