City council members in El Mirage unanimously selected Joe Ramirez as the new vice mayor of the city Tuesday, a news release states.
Ramirez, who has lived in El Mirage for more than 50 years, was elected to the council in 2000 and 2010.
He is also an avid businessman and community figure, owning a local construction company and volunteering at charity events.
Ramirez said in a news release, "I encourage all residents to join me in working toward a better El Mirage."
Ramirez is replacing Vice Mayor David Shapera.
