PHOENIX - An El Mirage man accused of fatally stabbing his father has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 47-year-old Albert Rodriguez Arias entered his plea Monday. His next court date is June 19.
Arias was arrested on April 5 on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Police found 76-year-old Pete Arias bleeding from six stab wounds at his home in El Mirage, located west of Phoenix. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Court records show Albert Arias told police that he was tired of being abused by his father and he had "lost it" and stabbed him.
Authorities haven't said whether they found any evidence of Arias being abused by his dad.
They say Arias was previously convicted of drunken-driving and endangerment in 2000.
