EL MIRAGE, AZ - A 24-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly abusing his 2-year-old daughter.

Detective Kim Walden with the El Mirage Police Department said James OMahoney is facing child abuse and criminal neglect charges after the child's mother found cigarette burns on the girl's arms and bruises on her body.

Walden said the injuries were found after the 2-year-old came home after spending the night with her father.

The little girl's mother took her to the hospital where doctors confirmed the injuries were consistent with physical abuse.

OMahoney denied hurting his daughter, but police said the girl identified him as the person who hurt her.
