EL MIRAGE, Ariz. - Police have arrested three women in a case involving forged prescriptions in the Phoenix area.
El Mirage Police Department spokesman Robert Peoples said detectives began an investigation in November when 34-year-old Sarah Bruno was suspected of passing off forged prescriptions to various pharmacies in the Phoenix area.
The investigation led detectives to 26-year-old Kara Williams who is suspected of providing the forged prescriptions.
A search warrant was served at the El Mirage home where the two women live where evidence was found leading detectives to a third suspect, 51-year-old Jody Bowers.
Peoples said Bowers is suspected of being responsible for making and distributing the fake prescriptions.
Today a second search warrant was served at a Phoenix area hotel where Bowers had rented two rooms and was staying with other adult family members.
Peoples said El Mirage detectives, along with the Phoenix Police Department, found dangerous drugs, false identifications and forged prescriptions.
Bruno and Williams were arrested and charged with multiple counts of forgery and aggravated ID theft.
Bowers was arrested and charged with forgery, possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Peoples said the investigation is ongoing.
