The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. near 6th Avenue and Maricopa Road.
Buckeye police lieutenant Jared Griffith said reports suggest two children may have been attempting to pull a dog bone from the animal's mouth when both kids were bitten.
Griffith said one of the children sustained serious injuries to his arm area and was transported by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials said the dog was secured at the home.
Griffith said Buckeye police and animal control are investigating the incident.
