AVONDALE, AZ - A Valley doctor has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and sexually abusing a female patient, according to authorities.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Trent Crump said 54-year-old Dr. Galen Johnson was taken into custody Monday after an investigation by the department’s Family Investigation Bureau.

The 28-year-old victim alleges she was physically assaulted and sexually abused by Johnson during a visit at the Estrella Women's Health Center on May 18th.

Crump said Johnson works in the OB/GYN department at the Avondale facility.

Johnson was arrested and booked into MCSO jail on one count of assault and one count of sexual abuse.

MCSO said Johnson was released on Monday night.

Crump said detectives are interested in talking to anyone who might have more information about this crime or the suspect in this case. If you have any information you are urged to call Phoenix police.
