AVONDALE, AZ - Authorities say three shops in an Avondale strip mall suffered mostly smoke damage when a fire sparked in one of them Sunday night.
Avondale fire spokesman Ron Deadman said there were no injuries as a result of the fire that appeared to have started in an unoccupied shop near Western and Central avenues just before 8:30 p.m .
Deadman said the three unit strip mall also has a beauty shop and smoke shop.
The unoccupied shop is in the middle.
The fire was upgraded to a first alarm for extra manpower.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
