AVONDALE - Interstate 10 is back open in the West Valley after an early morning crash shut down the freeway in both directions.
The accident happened around 1 a.m. Sunday on eastbound 1-10 near Sarival Avenue.
Highway Patrol officials said three 18-wheeler semi trucks were traveling eastbound when one of the trucks lost control and collided with the two other trucks.
Officials said one of the trucks involved rolled completely over the concrete divider and landed on its side in the westbound lanes.
Four people were seriously injured, two of which needed to be extricated from their vehicles.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash. It is unknown if impairment was a factor.
The freeway was shut down for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
